The Control Panel is a standard feature of
every new account. It gives you the capability to manage all aspects of
your account in order to make the best use of your options. You can
administer your webspace, your email accounts, your files and directories, your
CGI-bin, and all the special features that we offer you, such as site
statistics and shopping carts for e-commerce sites.
Some of the handy features of your Control Panel
include:
- Web Site Builder, a powerful, user
friendly website creation tool so you
can quickly build and maintain your own
website without any technical skills or
knowledge! Using the design templates,
you can build and publish your own
professional-looking websites in
minutes. Browser-based design tools
let you customize all aspects of your
website, without requiring a knowledge
of HTML programming. This tool
allows you to build a basic website in about an hour and without any
additional software. You can select from hundreds of options and
logos, backgrounds, fonts, colors, etc.
- A File Manager
that allows
you to manipulate all the files in your web site. You are able to
create, delete, and move your files at will, right from your web
browser without having to use FTP or Telnet. You can upload files
from your computer to the webserver with File Manager, and if you
know how to, you can edit the html in any of your files from this
option.
- Web-based Email Access so you can check your
email from any computer with just a webbrowser and
an Internet connection. All the email users
under your domain name will be able to send,
receive, delete, and compose email with this
user-friendly, web-based program. It is just
like a Hotmail or Yahoo mail account, but better
because the email address contains your
domain name.
- A Mail Manager that enables you to add/modify/remove email
addresses as you wish. You can set up mail forwarding and aliases
that will automatically route mail to external email accounts. You
can also create Autoresponders that will automatically inform mail
senders that you received their email. Mailing lists are also configured
here so you can send
email to a large number of contacts in a very
efficient manner.
- A tool to change your administrative password.
- A Resource Meter that displays how much disk space
and how many email addresses you have available at a glance.
- Utilities for Password Protected Pages and Directories. Not to be
confused with your administrative password, this tool allows you to specify which users are allowed to access certain pages on your
site. When visitors click on a certain URL, they would be requested to
enter a username and password which you manage here through the Control
Panel.
- A Search Engine Submission tool that helps you submit your website
to many of the top Search Engines including
Infoseek, Webcrawler, AltaVista, Lycos, Excite,
HotBot, Infoseek, Yahoo, and more. This is an
effective way of ensuring that the site you
create gets optimal audience and web traffic.
While you can submit your site to search engines
without the aid of this option, it can be a very
time consuming process. This Submit Site to
Search Engines option makes the process a quick
and easy one.
- Tools to install or add:
- Anti-spam filters.
- Mailing Lists for newsletters or subscription email.
- MS FrontPage Extensions so you can use one
of the most powerful and popular website creation and management
programs.
- Page-hit Counters to as many
of your pages as
you choose.
- A Redirect URL to create "jump" pages.
- A Search Engine for your website.
- Anonymous FTP which allows visitors to upload and download files
to your site without a password (available for all packages except the Budget).
- Formmail, which will help you create a script to take contents of an
online form and email the results to the address you specify.
- PGPMail, which is similar to Formmail except
it uses your PGP key to encrypt the message before sending it to
you. Your PGP key is installed with the control panel.
- PGP, which is a means of transmitting encrypted information in email.
- MIME Types so you can control which
software programs will work with your site.
- Telnet(SSH), which many users are not
familiar with an do not
need to use, but we make it available anyway. Several of the tasks
commonly done thru Telnet can also be more
easily done in the File Manager but Telnet allows users to get a shell
on our servers.
- A Site Statistics viewer to view many statistics about
the usage of your web site. You can view how many hits your pages
receive, the number of pageviews, what website referred your
visitors, and which of your pages is visited most often. You will know how many visitors your
site has had and where they are coming from, data that can be used to
analyze your marketing strategy or plan your next advertising
campaign. This information is always available and updated
daily. Access to raw logs is also available if you prefer to use
your own statistic analysis program.
- MySQL database tools for database equipped websites. MySQL
is our GNU database of choice. We develop all of our own products
with MySQL or Oracle. Users of mSQL and postgresQL can migrate to
MySQL.
- An Archive Manager that allows you to backup and compress
files within your website. For example, if you have a number of
files for which you wish to keep a backup, you can select all the
files, then create a backup file that contains all of them in a
compressed format.
- The Java Servlet Manager, which is used to install or remove
support for Java Servlets. Servlets are protocol and
platform-independent server-side components, written in Java, that
dynamically extend Java-enabled servers, without the performance
limitations of CGI programs.
